Rear end + Tire combo fitment

So here's my issue:

My 1986 S-10 blazer has a gm 7.5 with 4.10 gears. This rear end was fine with the smogger 305 that was in it when I purchased it, but now I'm almost done dropping a 327 that's making about 400hp at the flywheel and I'm not sure it's going to last very long (maybe it will but either way I want to swap it out). I want to swap it for a 9 inch ford and I've scrounged around local garage sales and let the word out among my family members and so far I've come up with a brand new 9 inch housing with no axles and another housing with axles but it's narrowed to 47" axle end to axle end and whomever narrowed the housing was either in a big hurry or had no idea what they were doing because it's a mess. The axles, however, seem to be in good shape so I was wondering if I could narrow the good housing and use the axles off of the mangled housing and put it under my s10 without cutting up the frame or the springs. If all of that it possible, then what is the widest wheel/tire I can fit. I was hoping to get some 15x10 rallys under but 15x8 with wide tires would also be fine (and also cheaper since I have some already)

Thanks Guys,
Allen

Welcome Allen!! Check out the 8.8 axle threads in the Transmission & Drivetrain sticky, a much better and less costly option than the 9".
