98 V8 Swap and Passing State Inspection?

Postby JonnyS10 » Sun Jul 23, 2017 8:31 pm

I recently bought a 1998 2.2L 5 Speed extended cab that I was hoping to swap a 5.3L into but now people are telling me that I would never get it to pass state inspection here in New Hampshire. Is that true?
I found rocker arm monkey's on ebay!

Check local emission and inspection requirements. Check state and county website and also talk to a local inspector too. Everywhere is different and some states have even gotten rid of annual inspections as well.

As a rule, if you keep, and/or adapt, all the later model emissions stuff that came with the motor you use, and it's NEWER than the truck, you will be OK, but do as Garry suggested to be sure,
