Oil Filter Relocation?

Postby mixman98 » Sat Jul 22, 2017 6:17 am

I have an '89 Reg Cab Short Bed that had the 4.3 and am transplanting a carbed 383 Stroker into it. I've read some conflicting info on here on whether or not the oil filter has to be relocated or not. I'll be using Heddman 69490 long tube headers on a carbed motor with the motor plate/mount setup suggested for those headers. So, do I have to relocate the oil filter with this setup?

You can get by with a short filter, but it will be a PITA come oil change time. I strongly recommend a remote filter, it will make your life a lot easier in the long run, 8)

Thanks Rick. Do you have any part #'s for a decent kit? Summit have a Trans Dapt kit TRD-1122 I'm looking at.

That Summit kit is fine, but personally, I'd upgrade the hoses to stainless braided, or at the very least, Push-Loc,
