Oil filter relocation

Postby weezy69 » Tue Mar 14, 2017 5:49 am

Looking to get some ideas for moving the oil filter. I want to try and do some 90 deg fittting so the lines don't hang so low. Let's see what some of you guys have done.

What length hoses did you use? And thanks as usual Rick!

AN hose = make your own. Don't cheap out, get a good brand name hose. I got about 6ft of cheapo stuff laying around that was bad out of the box. Never again.

I'd recommend the lighter braided stuff for most applications, but for that particular location, (that close to the headers), stainless is probably a better choice, and I happened to already have the hose and some of the fittings left over from another project anyway.

Good to know. Pretty sure summit has their own brand. If it wasn't for summit my truck would never get anything done to it! Lol

Yes anything under frame needs to be stainless braided. NHRA requires for fuel but not sure on the oil line.

Not true, Push-Loc is perfectly legal, the whole fuel system in my race car is Push-loc. Only the fuel pressure and oil pressure gauge hoses and turbo oil supply hoses are stainless braided. 8)

Correct but braided must be stainless braided, not nylon. Just in case he went with nylon for AN fittings

Hey Rick! Any issues with mounting the filter sideways?

None for me, and that's how, ( and where), Chevy mounts the filter on the later 4x4 Blazer, not sure about pickups. Either horizontal or vertical will work, just depends on your preference, horizontal drains easier and cleaner, but with a vertical mounting, you can pre-fill the filter. 8)
