Passenger Side Head vs. Heater Box

Postby mixman98 » Tue Nov 21, 2017 7:03 am

The passenger side head of my 350 that has the tall valve covers due to having roller rockers with a stud girdle will not clear the heater box of my '89 S10 that originally had A/C. I'm using the V8 motor plates to engine mounts 2.5" high to center of bolt hole. How hard is it to cut the factory box and reshape it so that it fits and what is needed to do so? I'd like to get this figured out before I pull the motor out to prep for paint. Thanks guys, Larry

Yes some cut and fiberglass the box. Been years since i've seen it done but there might be a post around here somewhere with it done.

You could also cut it for clearance and then pop rivet a piece of sheet metal in place and seal it up.

That was my thought as well, but I may go with the fiberglass instead. Thanks
