15x10 with 4.5bs??? (Updated)

Postby Junkyard-S10 » Tue Oct 17, 2017 10:40 am

Ok so I know this issue has been beaten to death on this forum(every s10 forum). But how bad will a 15x10 wheel stick out on a 2nd gen with 4.5in of backspacing.
I found a great deal close by for a used set with slicks. But if they wont fit, they wont fit. Truck only has the 3rd leaf removed as a drop. Only change in suspension is lakewood shocks.
Anyone have this combo and a picture of it?

Most people with 15x10 run 5.5bs. Odds are it will hit the fender.

Yeah I kinda figured that. As good of a deal as it is, it wont help me if it hits the fender. Oh well

Yeah a nice set was posted here locally but it was also a 15x10 so I had to pass.

That’s a 15x8 with 4.5” back spacing with a 275/60r15.

With 4.5" bs a 10" wheel would stick 2" further out.

A 5.5" bs with 10" wheel would only push it out 1" more than the pic shown.

Okay, new question..... How about 15x8s with only 4in of BS????? I know 4.5 is the usual I see people post about. Can this be corrected with a spacer? Anyone??

A spacer would only make it worse. Less backspace means the more it will be away from the frame. There's a few videos and a google search can explain it better.3

Okay, yeah offset/backspacing is def confusing for me.
I was worried the less backspacing would rub the frame. But according to you it would be closer to the fender? That should be fine then right? Because of the smaller rim size?

Back spacing is distance from mounting surface to inner edge of wheel and is in inches. So less backspacing means less distance from mounting surface to inside of wheel which pushes it out further. Opposite is said if backspacing is more.

So as a reference, the rims fit perfectly. Stock suspension, helper spring removed, lakewood 50/50 shocks and traction bars. 275/60/15 Drag radials. Truck squats nice, tires don't touch anywhere.
