I know this is a old post, but I am now batteling the rear back space issue. I have a ford 9" that is the same width as a 68 Bronco in my truck, I compared with my other truck that is stock. I dropped a string of the fender lip, measured to the drum face. The 9" is almost 2" wider( closer to the string. I had 15X8 with 3 3/4 back space, and it looked gross. I want to go with 15x8 with 5.5 back space. I measured the centerlines outside to outside and they measure 9.5, inside the bead they are 8??? :? My truck are second gens, how much wider are the 8.8 than stock? The 9" is 4 inches in total wider, Are 10" with 6.5 Inc backspace going to work for me??

the 8.8 is 4" wider than stock, 2" on each side. I don't think the 9" will work like the 8.8 though, as the spring perches are only 1/2" off from s10 perch location. couldnt tell you on the backspacing, as it always was wierd to me lol. although i was running 15x10 with 5" of BS on my 2nd gen with the stock rear.

I haven't gotten wider rims yet, but I mounted 295/50r15s on my basset wheels 15x8 with 3" rear space. Gives me what I need to know. 15x10 with 4" backspace will keep the tread right where it is now.
