I put in a dana 44 and made my links and welded in coil mounts. You can put in almost any axle you want, it just depends on how good you are as a fabricator/welder, and your understanding of suspension/drivetrain geometry. I have a detailed tread on here for my 98 blazer sfa and v8 lt1. Lots of pictures. Good luck

yeah i know the dana 44 would be the best but like i said i cant find that will work with out tons of fab work. thats why i was thimking a dana 30 or 35 cause the axle can be about the same width. i plan on doing leafs up front so perches and steering setup is all really needing done. my real concern is strength. if the 30 or 35 will hold up to dailly driver with 4.3 i want to do that but if not i will just wait till i find the right dana 44

I'd go with the 35, but they put 30's in jeeps with a 4.0 and they hold up- mostly!

I'm well versed in the 4x4 world from having jeeps and full-size 4x4 trucks. I have never seen a Dana 35 from axle. You can make one just like how guys take a D60 others and a 14bolt center section and mane a steet axle. It's possible but not worth it to do to a D35, a ford 8.8 would be a better choice if going the route of building one.

A D30 will hold up fine to 31s and 4.3L. I beat the tar out of a stock D30 on 33s with a warmed over 4.0L.

Currently I have a D30 living with 37x14.00 Super Swampers and a 300hp v6. I had to upgrade to chromoly axle shafts and reheat.
