Anyone can go for 1/8, not everyone can race 1/4  lol

Not everyone has a 1/4 mile strip close by... Sad :(

Thank goodness Dinwiddie is a short haul!

And yes it's true... there are quite a few out there that can manage the 1/8 mile but can't quite make it on the 1/4. The 1/8 can be more about getting it off the line. The 1/4 shows raw horsepower.

In this case... I saw that the Blazer seemed to be just getting started. Hence my wonder about the 1/4 mile.

Debate is always fun though!

True! I would like to run a 1/8 mile, I think I heard about one just south of Orlando near Bofomills. Maybe us FL boys need to make a trip down there to see me run my pathetic 8 second 1/8th lol.

I agree on the 1/4 mile comment. Thats all i've ever known/run . So what does a 6.26 1/8 mile translate to in the 1/4 ?

1/4 Mile ET = (1/8 Mile ET + .22) / .655

1/8 Mile ET = (1/4 Mile ET * .655) - .22

9.89, but chances are you would slow a bit in the top end, but still looks to be a solid 10 second 1/4.

1/4 Mile ET = (1/8 Mile ET + .22) / .655

1/8 Mile ET = (1/4 Mile ET * .655) - .22

Damn Internet Explorer!! I lost a good paragraph of stuff!!

Here's the deal.... I've seen some very strong runners in the 1/8th run the number but bagged it running the 1/4. It's all about advantage. I've also seen some really impressive ETs but crappy MPH numbers. This is not an indication of a crappy setup... on the contrary! This is a setup that is dialed-in!!

I am a constant and firm reader of the Mopar engine and chassis books. If you have not readt them, I suggest that you do. Though they are Mopar-centric, there is a ton of information that can apply to anyone that is into drag racing. Horsepower will only get you so far. The chassis setup is where it's at!

In this case...a 5.8x 1/8th mile run with ANYTHING is moving!! Hell, I had a big-block B-body on nitrous that ran a 6.60 in the 1/8th and there wasn't much of anything with tags and insurance that would beat it... but that was ten years ago. I'm glad to see that things have come along so far!

http://www.gofastfilms.com/DRAGRACING/v ... RT%201.wmv

watch this video. About 3 minutes into it he talks about 1/8 mile racing versus 1/4 mile racing. I feel the same way pirez does. 1/8 mile racing started in the south with heads up racing.

I can assure you most cars that outrun you in the 8th are gonna outrun you in the 1/4. It takes, in my opinion, more balls to get it done in the 8th. You have to get it all in quick and let her eat. No offense to anyone, but if i had a vehicle that ran 70 or 80 mph in the 1/8 then id have to run it quarter mile. Now get in a vehicle that will run 120+ in the 1/8 and see if your story changes.

p.s by using the formula posted it says my blazer should run 8.70s in the 1/4. I doubt it would run that...prolly more like 8.80s ...
