New muffler time

Postby lowblazin94 » Sat Feb 03, 2018 5:09 pm

Ready for a change. After a long drive I realized the Dynomax Bullets are too much droning for my like. I got home and shut the truck off and couldn't hear anything.

I don't like the chambered sound, too many Mustangs around here running those.

Here's current sound

https://youtu.be/3AkmVwzgtJM

Too many options to go through. Who is running what?

Running the Summit exhaust and love it. Great deep sound and no droning. Also don't like the chambered flowmaster sound.

Ditch the downturns and put some tailpipes on it, turned down at a 45° angle right at the roll pan, or straight out past it, and your drone will be gone. It's all those sounds waves bouncing off the ground and back to the bed causing the drone. 8)

I'm redoing everything behind the header. Ordered some S-bends to run the exhaust higher then i'll probably go out the side. These race bullets sound too ghetto for my liking

Order the Jegs deep tone mufflers. Both for $60 total is worth a try. If anyone is interested in the bullets then i'll clean them up and sell them here first.

I'll be redoing the piping from the headers back so there will be plenty of room for future changes

What size are they Garry? I might be a player for them, my trucks have had (the same pair of) Flowmasters on them for like 2 decades..... LOL
They last forever...I literally bought them for my black truck in the mid 90s, kept them, and the tail pipes, when I scrapped the burnt hull of that truck, then put one on my current truck with the 4.3, then added the other one when I did the engine swap.

Crap don't put that kind of question on me on a Wednesday. I should be able to measure tomorrow or Friday. I think maybe 18" or 21" or something. Been so long since I bought them.

If they are that, (so they can go right in place of my Blowmasters), I definitely want them, if the price is right,

I just read this today... looks like you ordered a pair.. if you end up not liking them.. I bought the hooker aero chamber and love them.. I got rid of my flow masters cause of the "flowmaster drone" the hookers kinda have a crisp sound to them at idle and are very quiet.. no drone in the cab at all.. but when you nail it they sound similar to flow master only none of the resonance.. I would buy them again for sure .. been very happy.

Yeah figured screw it and give them a try. Out of the hundreds of cars i've seen at the car show i've only heard 2 I liked and I didnt have a chance to talk to the owners.

If I don't like these then i'll find something else.

Which length did you want? Just the casing? I was about to get under there and measure but a dead raccoon in the corner of the garage caught my attention and needed taken care of.

What a difference. Cab is much quieter and its so much more enjoyable cruising around. I can actually comfortably drive next to another car. I need to finish the downturns so now its dumped straight under the bed and its still fairly pleasant. Good idle and WOT isn't like a whip crack anymore.

Not as loud as I was hoping but i'm very pleased and won't have anyone wanting to race eat every light since I can sneak around now.
