That is a fact, my engine is back about as far as it can go. It sits back that far because I had to space the fan forward to clear the blower belt.
I actually have to rotate the distributor to get to the screws (hooks) on the cap.

Looks like it sits about ~4" farther back than mine.

94 Sonoma: SinistR SonoMa - Currently 2.2 T5, tubular uca's tall upper and lower ball joints, zq8 front and rear sway bar, drop spindles, 4cyl springs cut 3/4 loop, disc brake rear. Future mods LS1 front brakes, frame stiffening, camaro 3.4 block with 3400 pistons, ported 3500 top end and undecided on the cam. Want to keep the motor obdII so that will be fun. Also gonna run a camaro t5. After all the kinks are worked out I might screw it up again and add a hair dryer.

Bossman, I am running a 76 400 in mine with the 305 manifolds & did not have to notch the manifold. I can PM you a pic but looks like you got it under control & a good job of doing that.

Nothing defeats boost.....but it would DEFINITELY make more power with less restrictive exhaust,
