Wire harness question

Postby Boshears » Fri May 19, 2017 1:05 am

I'm going from a 4.3 efi to 350 carb. My question is can I use my stock harness or do I need an aftermarket harness? Thanks.

You can use the stock harness.

A lot of wires won't be used since they are for the fuel injection.

Will you be using aftermarket gauges? And what trans will you be using?

Then you can pretty much rip everything out.

Depending on year it will be a simple straight forward swap.

Perfect, just rewired my 92 from scratch, ours are similar.

All you need for the basics is the wiring to the steering column. That controls lights, wipers, horns, basically everything for just a safety inspection.

You can rip out the PCM and if you are keeping the AC or electric doors/windows then be careful not to cut any of that wiring.

No a/c that was the first thing out. It has manual locks and windows.

If I remember correctly leave the pink and orange wires. Those provide power. There's a large orange you can use for the ignition.

Anything for the sensors can go besides fuel level and leave everything alone on the column since that is your wipers and lights.

Take it one wire at a time and before you know it you will have the wires you need and then can wire in your own gauges from there.
