88 to 90 instrument cluster

Postby GJSZ51 » Sat Apr 08, 2017 6:02 pm

I have swapped the instrument cluster out of my 88 Blazer Tahoe with 2.8 to a cluster from a 90 short box 2.2. Of course Blazer has mechanic speedo, pick up was electric. Non of the other gauges function as they should, either. Can I simply swap in the 2.2 computer? Or do need to swap dash harness, too?
Also, the blazer will be receiving a SBC 383 shortly. What will be the best ECM at that point

ECM has nothing to do with the dash in those years, you could transfer the DRAC and related wiring to make the speedo work, and it does not need the ECM to function. My 93 speedo works fine with no ECM, but I did lose a RABS signal that was sent by the DRAC through, and translated from a 4X signal to a 7X signal by, the ECM, when I took out it out. 8)
