Wiring help....

Postby jayyk31 » Mon Dec 12, 2016 3:34 am

The more I search this the more cono used I get. Can I wire up the starter like original s10 or do I have to use a relay like they do on the Express van? The big purple wire comes out of pin H1 c100 right to the starter on the s10. Any help would be gray appreciated

The reason for the relay on the Express van is that "you" don't start the vehicle, the computer does, when you give it a "start request" via the ignition key. Using the purple wire like the stock S10 will work just fine,

Thank you Rick! I will wire it up like stock then.

So the pcm doesn't need to see anything "starter" related? Pin 75 blue on the van pcm is ign1 crank voltage. So I would just hook up that pin to a fused ignition source, right? And that would b it?

Just make sure any neutral safety switch/device you are using properly works after wiring the starter

The s10 is already factory wired for manual Trans so I suspect I should be good. I believe the cpp switch is wired in right before the purple wire comes out on pin h1 C100

While I'm here I have 1 more question. I'm using corvette accessories so I havended the 04 vette alternator. Can I run the 2 wires directly to the s10 c100 instead of the pcm? And is there a resistor already wired into the "L" wire in the cab? Or do I have to wire one in that circuit? Thanks guys.

Thanks dude I would appreciate that. I don't think the LSx pcm needs to see alt. And I'm pretty sure the factory s10 wiring runs the brown wire thru the dash light and out through the ignition wire. Just want to double check though. Thanks

All depends on alternator. Self exciting, one wire etc....

PCM shouldn't need to see voltage unless it's an externally regulated alternator.

Got a part # for alternator? Should eliminate any confusion

OK part # is 19134486. 3 wire plug and then battery wire to stud.

On the factory diagrams it shows the 2 wires, brown & pink/black run into the truck and through the dash light bulb. So my thinking tells me that I shouldn't have to wire in a resistor, right? If I do I will. Will I mess anything up if I just go ahead and wire in like a 250 ohm resistor anyway?

The dash light acts as a resistor, even if it isn't where you can see it, it will still work,
