Power box behind cluster

Postby mikes_awd » Mon Oct 24, 2016 12:12 am

So i got my 92 s10 4.3 4x4 Tahoe back in may. When i got it it was all together accept the speedo was the only thing that worked in the cluster. Had a temp gauge in the floor that didn't work. There wasnt a radio. The interior lights don't work but the door buzzer works. I decided to replace the dash because it was so cracked. While it was out i noticed the clusters circuit board was burnt up. And noticed a black box with male terminals out of it and some cut wires. What are these for or called? It has all manual doors. Id like to add power options if its easy enough to wire. Replaced the cluster everything works accept the gas gauge it constantly moves up and down like crazy. Thanks for your time. Sorry i have pictures cant figure out how to upload on here. I can text or email the pictures

There are a number of black boxes behind the dash on these trucks, a pic of the item in question would help immensely in determining what it is. 8)

That doesn't look like anything that's factory, TBH, it looks like an aftermarket alarm system control box....I've removed a BUNCH of them due to problems, Starling Chevrolet used to bring me all their non-GM used cars that had alarms to remove them before reselling them, I guess they did the GM stuff themselves. 8)
