Wirng from ECM 89' S10 2WD

Postby mixman98 » Wed Apr 19, 2017 10:42 am

Hey there guys. I want to clean up some of the wiring that will not be used when I install my non-ecm 350. I have the ECM unhooked from under the dash and see that DRAC is wired separate. My question is, can I just cut all of the wires that were going to the ECM and leave all of the others that run from the fuse block and upwards from the T? I do notice that there is a plug that comes out of the cluster where the main ecm wires are that runs up under the dash somewhere. Do I need to keep this intact?

Come on guys. I know someone out there has cleaned up their engine bay of all the wiring that is no longer used. I don't want to start cutting and cut the wrong wires.

Are you going to be running a carb? Are you wanting to use the stock gauges?

Do you have access to the wiring diagrams? Make sure you seperate the 12v power and then start seperating the unused wires like fuel injection and emissions etc before you start cutting

I am using a carb and will use the factory gauges for now, but will eventually install some aftermarket mechanical gauges.

What transmission will you be using?

I just did a very similar swap with my '89: carb'd 350, T5, factory speedo. I believe the ECM is still in the truck just as a mounting place for the DRAC but I'll check tomorrow. It's been parked away all winter. I'm curious, where are you located?
