Weiand 7482p VS 7582p 6-71 supercharger

Postby Easymoney » Sat May 30, 2015 9:13 pm

I've worn out my small 144 supercharger and have decided to go big.
I have always wanted a big nasty 6-71 even if it's not as efficient as the new superchargers.

Has anyone used a weiand 7482p ?
It's shows to be discontinued recently and replaced by a new number 7582p.
The only info I got from Holley was that the new number replaces the old and it's made to look
"more vintage".

May put it in the truck this winter.

Yes it's very heavy. Shipping weight was 148 pounds. Pulleys/ brackets ect.

lowblazin94 wrote:Nice! Motor specs? Fuel? Etc

I built this from scratch starting with a new GM block. It's a zz430 clone.
GM performance fastburn heads with 210 intake runners and hollow intake valves.
Sodium filled ex. valves.
Full roller cam and rockers.
I ran the GM HOT cam for a few years and wanted a little more thump.
So I upgraded to a comp 08-602-8 Thumper cam.
Last month I added 8 pounds of boost and a pair of edelbrock 600s.
Ohh. and a spooky skeleton. ;)

Sounds sweet!

Looks like the adjuster for the upper alternator mount is a little loose?

Throw that thing in the dime. ;)

Very nice.. but the question I have is.. why is it in a cutlass and not the s10?

Well I lost reverse and noticed a cracked bell housing so its most likely going in my s10 this summer.

Just an opinion but... you need way more air cleaner.. I would go taller, larger and an air filter lid. Changing my 14" from 2 to 3 inch on my 144 and putting on a filter lid.. totally changed my tune and afr.. runs way better.

PS.. Just like going from my 600dp to a 750dp made a huge difference in upper rpm pull.

PS PS... get a wideband 02 if you don't already have one... invaluable!!

Good information. I agree with the air filter upgrade ideal.
I'm planning on a data logger with wide band o2 and tps sensor.
I found a tps that bolts to the edelbrock carbs nice and neat.

http://www.usshift.com/tps.shtml?gclid=Cj0KEQjwioHIBRCes6nP56Ti1IsBEiQAxxb5G0wdNH534tcFMZkA1VF3gKEr87jS882NXSmLQ6nUILkaAvx68P8HAQ
Just want to monitor o2 tps and rpm. Possible mph but not as critical.
