Greetings from CA

Hey all... I have been pilfering info off this board for a few years... Figured I would finally register.

On my 3rd swap now.

A few months ago I was at Sac raceway and a friend of mine was having issues with his 2013 zr1.... I made a jab and told him he spent 100k on car that could do 12s (he was spinning hard out of the hole and into 2nd... Seriously bad... He ran a 12.86.... @144 wtf) I made a comment like... "I could build a car for 1200 bucks that'll run 12s"

Well.... I got called out on it.

Now I am in the process of putting together the "Low Buck Truck" it's a 91 short/short. Has a 313 inch (307) small block and will be getting the eBay turbo treatment. (Was going to have my old 355 n2o motor but he said that was cheating and I had to buy a motor to make the 1200 budget work.

I had more than 1200 in tires on my last car (for sham... A 90 fox body with a t70... Ran mid 10s)

Anyways... I own and operate a custom shop in Concord CA, we do alot of custom body work (50s and 60s era stuff)... I assemble motors here and there... And basically play with cars all day everyday.

I am sure I am going to have some tuning questions as the truck gets more complete (just the motor and glide are in.... No wiring/accessories/etc yet.

Thank you all in advance

Welcome! That 307 paired with a turbo will be a blast. Spin it to the moon.

Blazin.... Thanks for the vote of confidence. I just flipped through you build thread... That's a pretty cool truck ya got there. You make those 555s work? Out here it seems like all the fast street guys run slicks.... All the time.

Thanks X trying to have some fun with these cars.... I've been running my shop for 10 years and all of my own projects get neglected, as it is hard to spend money and time on my own projects when money making jobs are sitting right next to it.

The plan is a Chinese gt45, possibly a water to air intercooler if I have enough budget left after rear end/shifter/tires....

The truth of the matter is this thing really only needs to hold together for a few passes.... Anything after that is just a bonus.

If it goes well and I humiliate my zr1 owning buddy, I may build a forged guts 396 SBC and start upgrading the 'temp' stuff
