New member from Nevada!

Postby m0ncl3 » Mon Jul 03, 2017 5:19 pm

Hello everyone!

I just picked up a 1996 S10 that I'm working on converting to a carb 350.

I just took out the old 2.2l motor and trans yesterday, and now I'm waiting on mounts to get here this weekend.

The S10 is a 2WD with the column shift. I plan on swapping in a GM GoodWrench 350 into it that has a Q-Jet on it.

I plan on making it a stripped down version, but still street-able s10.

I'm going to take out all of the harness that isn't needed for lights, gauges, starting the engine, etc.. and then I will be stripping out the interior including the dash, and in place of it fabing up a sheetmetal dash and gauge cluster panel as well.

I look forward to learning what I can from this forum and can't wait to be able to actually drive a V8 S10!

What mounts are you waiting on? You could make your own.....
The best motor mount adapters?
If these aren't the ones you ordered, you're not getting off to a very good start,
Welcome anyway!! Glad to have you here! 8)

I ordered these mounts hopefully these mounts allow me to use my V8, I got the poly inserts.

Should have got off to a better start I suppose...

No worries, no bashing here, we just have seen too many issues with them and would hate for you to have valve cover clearance issues, or motor sitting too far to one side, or have to cut the tabs down, or replace them in 6 months when they crack etc etc.

If you have the will to finish the swap then we can make it easier. But remember it's YOUR swap so there's no push to take every single persons advice on what you should do

Understood. I'll be sure to keep an eye out on the other tech articles because I'm sure I'll be using them.

Thanks. I figured I would have a bunch of questions that weren't going to be covered in the threads on here while I was doing some searching, and that's when I decided to create an account.

Start a build thread and post all the specs etc.

I constantly keep a log of what i'm doing just so I can refer back to it and remember the aches and pains and how I did certain things.

Yeah I'd like to document it also because this will be the first build I actually do on such a large scale vs. just swapping in a motor.

You might want to reconsider those mounts before you get started, I know a lot of folks here kinda wish they had.....just read through that thread for more details, but like Garry (lowblazin94) said, it's your build, do it the way you want, we're just here to help,
