First v8 s10 build

Postby Johns10 » Wed Jan 18, 2017 2:17 pm

Hey guys getting ready to start my first build. Bought a 91 2.8 5 speed short box. I plan on buying everything new. My goal is a 350 700r4. Looking through jegs I came across this http://www.jegs.com/i/Chevrolet-Performance/809/12499529K10/10002/-1. Anybody have experience with this fuel injection setup?

Welcome, haven't heard much about them.

Do you have any prior swap experience or built a SBC before?

Nope this will be my first. Always wanted to build one but I built a jeep instead.

I got 2 Jeepers in the family so I am the odd one out with the S10 project.

If you know of a good local machine shop they can build you a good motor assembled for relatively cheap since SBC's are not as commonly used as LS motors these days. For the EFI you can look in to other stand alone units. Most are plug and play and should be fairly simple to tie in to the S10 wiring and keep stock gauges.

I built my 700r4 for around $900 and added a manual valve body. You can stick with the stock TV cable but make sure whatever EFI you use allows for the TV kickdown cable.

I have a buddy on theturboforums with a 1st Gen Camaro, it's a 3800 lb.convertible with a healthy 383 in it, he's been 9.80s with that Fitech system, and he's pretty happy with it. He's pretty much at the limit of it's capabilities now though, and I think he plans to switch to a Holley Dominator system. For what it is, and the price, Fitech is a great system!

Just fold back the lip at the firewall/floor pan joint, and make sure your trans dipstick is in when you install, it's a bitch to put in after.... 8)

Sounds good. Motor is in the shop. Lots of prep work though.
