running a 4L60E without computer controls

Postby specv44 » Mon May 12, 2008 10:25 pm

What would be needed to run a 4L60E WITHOUT the computer controls? I know you can use a standalone controller, but as far as I know, that is more to control lockup and automatic downshifting. I imagine that if I manually upshift and downshift, and match it up with a GOOD trans cooler, that it would be fine, at least for racing anywho.

The reason I ask, is because I am already running a stock 700r4, which I already don't trust with slicks, and 400hp, but now I am stacking another 200hp of nitrous on top of it, and I do not see it lasting long lol. Plus, the 4L60E already has a stall too.

4l60e's have solonoids for the 1-2 and 3-4 shifts controlled by the computer a stand alone controller runs about $700 you could use a full manual valve body in it that would work for racing

I wonder if you can put a 700R4 valve body in a 4L60E? :?: 8)

If it has WHEELS or TITS, you WILL have problems with it!

A U-Haul fixes a lot of things

I talked to my dad tonight, he said the manual valve body kit for the 4L60E is more than it is worth. I wonder if I check GM parts direct if it has the same part number as the 700r4/4L60?

Some of the diesels had stand alone tranny controller, they are friggin rare to find tho so don't count on it. just letting you know if you have one in a junkyard around u. Havent really looked into that swap so don't know much about it.
